1. Where did the name Chilewich come from?
In 1997, textile designer Sandy Chilewich founded Chilewich in New York City.
In her New York based studio, Sandy Chilewich continues to impress the design world by applying her interest in color and experimentation with fibers to create her signature textile, woven vinyl, in addition to many others. Her innovative use of yarn fuses style and sophistication to create modern, practical and durable tablemats, personal bags, Plynyl woven vinyl floor mats, Shag indoor/outdoor floor mats in an ever expanding assortment. In her tabletop collection alone, Chilewich offers over 100 color and weave combinations.
In addition to the Chilewich collection, Sandy Chilewich, with her husband and business partner Joe Sultan, offer Plynyl wall to wall flooring, tiles and other products available to the contract market, architects and designers only.
2. Where are Chilewich products designed and made?
The Chilewich design studio is located in New York City.
All our products are made in the USA with the exception of Pressed Vinyl tablemats and linen napkins.
3. How can I order as an Interior Designer?
As an Interior Designer, you are entitled to 20% off the retail price off all our items. To set up an account with us, please follow the below instructions.

2) Once you do that, fill out the attached credit card authorization form and email that and your re-sale certificate to interiordesign@chilewich.com. If you would prefer to fax it, you can do so as well. Please send it to 212-679-9205 and put it to attention of Chilewich Interior Design.

4. What are the placemats made of?
The majority of the Chilewich table mat collection is made of woven vinyl.
Spun Vynyl is made of drizzled liquid vinyl heat set into a textile.
Pressed Vinyl is made through a molding process.
5. Does the color go away with time?
No
6. Where are they made?
All our products are made in the USA with the exception of the Pressed Vinyl tablemat collection (Taiwan) and the 100% Linen Napkin (China).
7. How do you wash them?

8. Can I get samples before I decide to buy an item?
We can send you samples of the woven floormats. You can order them on the product details page or by clicking here. Samples are sent free of charge and will be sent via USPS unless otherwise requested. Anything other than standard shipping will require an additional charge.
9. Can we use them outside?
Yes. Our tablemats are fade resistant and are perfect for outdoor use.
The woven floor mats can be used outside but are best suited for dry, covered surfaces. Shag and spun floormats can be used outside and is also resistant to mildew and mold. It does not absorb water.
10. Will the tablemats protect my table from stains?
No. Our mats are woven and water and other liquids will go through them. It is always a good idea to clean up a spill quickly if you need to avoid damage to the surface below our tablemat.

12. Are the indoor/outdoor shag floormats resistant to mold and mildew?
Yes
13. How do I get rid of the “fuzz” on the edge of my woven floormat?
Over time, you may see white threads peeking out on the sides of the carpet. This is a normal occurrence, inherent to the nature of woven vinyl. Simply trim these loose threads with a scissor. Trimming them will not damage the carpet or cause it to unravel.
14. Is Chilewich green?
Our current focus is to find processes and products that can utilize our reclaimed material as filler, similar to glass used in street paving. Our products are very hard to recycle as it contains a combination of materials and is costly to break down. Chilewich Contract commercial flooring has been reengineered and can now earn LEED points. We’ve been able to reduce our environmental impact as almost all of our products are made in the United States, and do not require harsh chemicals to clean.
