1. Where did the name Chilewich come from?
In 1997, textile designer Sandy Chilewich founded Chilewich in New York City. In her New York-based studio, Sandy Chilewich continues to impress the design world by applying her interest in color and experimentation with fibers to create her signature textile, woven vinyl, in addition to many others. Her innovative use of yarn fuses style and sophistication to create modern, practical and durable tablemats, personal bags, woven vinyl floormats and indoor/outdoor floormats in an ever-expanding assortment. In her tabletop collection alone, Chilewich offers over 100 color and weave combinations. In addition to the Chilewich collection, Sandy Chilewich, with her husband and business partner, Joe Sultan, offers wall-to-wall flooring, tiles and other products available to the contract market for architects and designers.
2. Where are the products made?
The Chilewich design studio is located in New York City. All our products are made in the USA with the exception of pressed vinyl tablemats, linen napkins, and napkin rings.
3. Is the information I give you secure?
At Chilewich, we care a lot about your privacy. That is why we have set up a series of measures to keep all your information secure when you shop on chilewich.com. Our secure software uses SSL encryption technology which is able to safeguard online transactions. SSL (secure socket layer) encrypts your personal information, credit-card number, name, email and mailing address as it goes through the internet, which makes it almost impossible for someone to decrypt. With this technology, you can feel safer shopping on our site. We are also secured by McAfee security, which scans our website daily to ensure that you can feel as safe as possible.
4. Can I get samples before I decide to buy an item?
We can send you samples of the woven floormats. You can order them on the product details page. Samples are sent free of charge and will be sent via USPS unless otherwise requested. Anything other than standard shipping will require an additional charge.
5. How do I know if an item is in stock?
At Chilewich, we try to keep all of our items in stock in our warehouse at all times. Sometimes, however, we run out of items. If an item you want is out of stock, please call customer service at 888-851-7130 between 9am and 5:30pm EST Monday--Friday or email customerservice@chilewich.com and we can tell you the approximate time of arrival.
6. Why should I have an account with chilewich.com?
To optimize your shopping experience, we suggest you create an account. By using a login and password of your choice, you will be able to customize your wishlist, update billing and shipping information and view your order history.
7. Do you offer gift cards/gift certificates?
You can get a gift card or certificate by emailing customerservice@chilewich.com or calling customer service at 888-851-7130 between 9am and 5:30pm EST Monday--Friday.
8. How do I join your email list?
If you just follow this link, it will direct you to our mailing list site.
9. How can I opt out of your mailing list?
You have two ways to unsubscribe from our email list. We recommend you click on the unsubscribe link that can be found on the bottom of each email that is sent. This will ensure that you unsubscribe and it will happen almost instantly. The second way is to email customerservice@chilewich.com and asked to be removed.
10. What are cookies? How do I enable them? And why do I want them?
Cookies are small pieces of information sent from a web server to be stored in your hard drive. Their job is to remember aspects of your visits to a particular website. We use cookies to help us improve productivity by tracking which areas of our site are most and least popular. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies. You have the option of declining cookies if your browser permits. However, you will need cookies to be turned on and/or your security settings to be set at an acceptable level when you are logging in to your account, your registry, or when you are attempting to complete a purchase.
11. Are all your products available online?
All the tablemats, bags and floormats that Chilewich sells within each season are available online. Ours is the only website with the complete Chilewich assortment.
12. Can I order different sizes in offered styles?
Yes, we can customize our woven flooring products. If you would like a quote or more information, please don't hesitate to call customer service at 888-851-7130.
13. Can I gift wrap an item?
Not now, but soon.
13. How do I trim or cut Chilewich products at home?
At this time we do not recommend cutting or trimming any of our products at home. If not done correctly, the edges will fray, ruining the integrity of the texture.
14. What is your tax policy?
By law, we are required to charge sales tax in states where we have a physical presence. Sales tax is charged based on the shipping address. We charge sales tax in New York, California and Georgia.
15. What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa debit and credit cards.
16. How do I change my password?
If you would like to change your password, all you have to do is go to your Account page and click on the link “change my password.”
17. What is your privacy policy?
We do not give out any customer information to anyone. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.
18. How should I clean Chilewich products?

19. Can I wash the tablemats in the dishwasher?
No. This is not recommended.
20. Does the color fade over time?
All products fade in direct sunlight. However, our products are fade resistant and will provide years of use before fading.
21. Can we use them outside?
Yes. Our tablemats are fade resistant and are perfect for outdoor use. The woven floormats can be used outside, but are best suited for dry, covered surfaces. Shag and spun floormats can be used outside and are also resistant to mildew and mold. They do not absorb water.
22. Will the tablemats protect my table from stains?
No. Our mats are woven and water and other liquids will go through them. It is always a good idea to clean up a spill quickly to avoid damage to the surface below our tablemat.

24. Are indoor/outdoor floormats resistant to mold and mildew?
Yes.
25. How do I get rid of the “fuzz” on the edge of my woven floormat?
Over time, you may see white threads peeking out on the sides of the carpet. This is a normal occurrence, inherent to the nature of woven vinyl. Simply trim these loose threads with a scissor. Trimming them will not damage the carpet or cause it to unravel.
26. How will my order be shipped?
Chilewich | Sultan ships all orders via UPS unless otherwise requested. All orders will be processed and shipped within 2--4 business days from the date your order is placed depending on the size of the order.
27. How do I obtain a tracking number for my order?
Once your item is shipped, you will automatically be notified of your tracking number via email.
28. Do you ship internationally?
At this time we can only ship to Canada and the United States. Please look at our store locator to find a store near you. If you live in Canada, please call 888-851-7130 between 9am and 5:30pm Eastern Time Monday—Friday; or you can email customerservice@chilewich.com
29. What are my delivery options and how much do they cost?

30. Do you deliver to APOs and PO boxes?
Yes. We ship to these addresses by USPS and an additional cost may apply.
31. Can I return an item?
Yes. At Chilewich | Sultan, we try very hard to ensure that you enjoy every product that you purchase. We recognize, however, that sometimes the product does not meet your expectations or it is damaged, therefore, we accept returns so that you will be satisfied with your purchase.
32. How do I return an item?
In the original box of your shipment, you will receive a return packing list where you are to fill out which items you are returning. The box will also include a return label that you are to add to the top of the box. PLEASE NOTE: You must make sure that the return packing list is in the box or we may not accept the return. 33. Are there any items I cannot return?
Unless damaged beforehand, we expect everything that is returned to be in the original, unused condition.
34. How long do I have to return the item?
You will have 45 days to return an item from the day the order was shipped.
35. What are your return shipping policies?
Payment for return shipping and any subsequent damages from return shipping are the responsibility of the purchaser. We recommend tracking your package so you can ensure we get it and we can refund your money.
36. Is Chilewich "green"?
